Suggested Actions for the Week of April 20

Updated: May 15

It was so nice to see some Persisters at the April 19th SiembreNC training session to learn how to educate our community on our 4th Amendment rights and to protect friends and neighbors who have harmed no one.

Again this week, we share a few options for action.

  1. Defend the Constitution

We wholeheartedly support national Indivisible’s call to action to defend our Constitution and the foundational rights shared by everyone who resides here.

Please contact–

Rep. Virginia Foxx at her Boone office:    828-265-0240

Senator Thom Tillis at his Raleigh office: 919-856-4630

Senator Ted Budd at his Raleigh office:    984-349-5061

Possible Call Script: Kilmar Abrego Garcia was sent to a Salvadoran prison camp with zero evidence and despite a direct court order forbidding it. He’s still there despite a unanimous ruling from the Supreme Court that orders his return, and I’m outraged that the Trump administration is openly defying the Constitution to keep him there. If the President can ignore the Supreme Court and send whoever he wants to foreign prisons without due process, then every single American is at risk. It is your sworn responsibility to stand up for us and our Constitution. Please demand an end to abductions and disappearances and the use of this Salvadoran torture prison. Please call for Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s return to the US. We are all at risk, and we need you to stand up for our rights.

  1. Mark your Calendar for May Day

We don’t yet know the details, but Indivisible National and Indivisible Watauga are making plans for action on May 1st. https://maydaystrong.org/  While we wait for more information, get inspired by this video on Vimeo created by Diane Nilan, capturing scenes and sentiments from the April 5 Hands Off Rally in Boone.
